A well-paced YA story set in Alaska. Two young people fall into an alien spaceship en route to the newcomers' inheritance.

I picked this up some time ago, intending to sit down and read it “as soon as I had time”. I wish I had found the time sooner.

I started reading during lunch and was quickly lost in a well-paced plot and some very enjoyable characters. I didn’t want to put the story down when lunch was over.

Once again, J.A. Marlow demonstrates a skill at giving the reader enough details to let your mind see the setting without bogging the story down with nit-picky details. The characters are so real you feel like you’ve met them at the local store.

If I had any complaints, it was the short chapters. But that’s only because I was reading it a chapter at time and only getting 3 or 4 pages wasn’t enough.

The best part is knowing that there is more to come. Because I want to know what is up with the lodge. And when will we get to see Nanuk again?

In my long life, I've visited many countries and 49 of the 50 United States. My one significant omission is Alaska, which was always the one state I thought most worth seeing. Well, I may not manage to reach Alaska physically, but J.A. Marlow has taken me there—and on an alien spacecraft, to boot. I couldn't have asked for more of an adventure than joining the Callahan boys as the arrive in the frozen north to claim their inheritance—a "haunted" lodge in the wild, wild wilderness.

I could go on with my praises, but I'm now rushing off off to read the second book in this fun adventure series.

wonderful book.
the setting is one of the most original i have seen in ages. this author has show their skill in characterisation countless times before, doing so once again in this thrilling tale.

marlows pacing is consistent, perfectly executing each event making this an exceptional first book in a series.
I would recomend this book for anyone who loves science fiction and wants a good read for either a rainy day or any dayt at all.

Alaska isn't the setting for many books, which makes this one unusual to start with.

What will draw you in is the author's usual excellent characterisations and well paced storytelling that holds your interest until the end. I note with pleasure that this is the first of a series and I can't wait for the others!
