Extended description

Tirk Talongrave was never very good at magic. A clumsy apprentice Magician to his father, he has spent nineteen and a half miserable years inside his home with his family, the most powerful line of Enchanters the kingdom has ever seen.

With his test to become a full Magician right around the corner and no familiar to speak of, Tirk's parents are turning him out in the hopes that the real world can teach him the lessons that his parents have failed to instill in him. Tirk is given six months to obtain a familiar or be disowned.

Only, Tirk's family never expected their son to become a wanted man on his first day out of the house.

Now, Tirk must learn quickly how to survive in a dangerous world with the help of new friends while avoiding assassins, bounty hunters, and self-inflicted injury in order to save a kingdom and his own hide.

This story is a high fantasy comedy.

I have now read all of Renee's works here on smashwords, and I have to say - this one is my favorite. I love the charming characters (well, Dirk isn't charming, but I still loved him) and the fun vibrant story.

Renee writes well, and you really get a sense of place in her writing. The characters were fun and well written, and you'll love all of it by the end.

This world is full of magic, curses, faeries, planer creatures, thieves, kings, queens, bards, and fun.
