About Penelope Fletcher

'My female characters are dear to me. I strive to allow them their strength and their innate femininity. As for loyalty to their emotional, romantic hearts and their sense of social responsibility and destiny, I see no need to sacrifice one for the other. Women wield an intoxicating power. It goes beyond physical prettiness to the beauty of the whole. Without the poetry of the mind and heart the body becomes a useless thing. I want my female characters to be brave, daring, and bold. I wish for their minds to be as relevant and celebrated as their bodies.' ~Penelope Fletcher, 2014

I love this book. I loved the darker, twist on the heroine and her romance with Luke was hot. I wish I could have gotten more of a conclusion but was still pretty happy with their ending.

First of all, after everything I've heard about this author, I'm surprised that this book hasn't been rated yet! I was never a fan of paranormal activity (note the movie pun, lol) because all I saw was vampire vampire vampire and that drove me absolutely batcrazy. This book is different. We encounter a lovely, kick-ass heroine named Evangeline, who is a Wendigo (think the Yeti but on a much much darker and more vicious scale). Miss Fletcher gets extra points for creating my favorite type of heroine--the one who can stand on her own two feet and get what she wants while still retaining human flaws that make her beautiful. Anyway, Evangeline meets a male Wendigo named Luke who tests her emotions and own struggle to keep her beastly urges under control--and all hell breaks loose from there. Recommended highly.
