I'm a maverick, I like to go my own way and since I've stuck to that I enjoy a great deal of freedom. I've been around the world, speak a few languages (my favorite is Japanese), and crave the exotic. I've been living in Bangkok, Thailand for the last nine years which is kind of like being on another planet (the air is almost breathable).
My wonderful wife Mochi and I are currently transitioning from our city lifestyle to a rural one in which we intend to live green on 7.5 acres of upland scrub. I look forward to growing our own food, harvesting wind and solar power and being safe and self sufficient when the zombie apocalypse comes. Meanwhile, I love to write and make art, and am looking forward to creating a lot more- I hope you like it!

This is a good short story. I'd describe it as mostly science fiction with some fantasy elements. The setting in particular is very interesting and original. Generally I like my SF to be "pure" SF, but I'm interested in seeing where the author goes with this idea.
In terms of the writing, there are a few places where it could probably be tightened up, but it flows easily and fits what I imagined to be the narrator's style.
It's been a while, but maybe another story will come along -- I hope. I do like seeing Geologists in stories.
