Lieutenant C

A Kafkaesque, semi-surrealistic tale about a reluctant hero trying to save the world. The setting is the 1960's with World War II still raging on. Lieutenant C is an English teacher who is called upon--by mistake--to carry out a super-secret mission to end the war and defeat the Nazi-Trojans. He also pursues Helen McNunnly, the illusive woman of his dreams.

About Bill Crumpler

I live in Texas with my lovely wife and our imaginary bulldog. I grew up reading Jules Verne, Mark Twain, Edgar Allan Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, H.G. Wells, and—later on—Franz Kafka.

Many of my tales deal with love and “romance”—the relationship (both physical and spiritual) between a man and a woman. The protagonist is often a lonely, complex, intelligent, beautiful (or not-so-beautiful) woman who finds love and happiness in unexpected—sometimes magical—ways.
