The four Gospels in the Christian Bible, contain a wealth of information about the life and words of Jesus Christ told from four unique perspectives. While some stories are told in one Gospel, many have counterparts in two, three, or all four books. These overlapping accounts share many common characteristics, but also reflect the unique intents of their authors.
"When Gospels Collide" brings all of those details together in one continuous narrative to bring out the intricate relationships of the accounts as well as the beautiful details available in one concentrated reading of Jesus' life.
One example is the account of Pilate ordering the sign placed on the cross. In Luke 23:38 we find the words "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS." The full meaning is evident when all four Gospels speak at once.
Even when only one author gives an account of Jesus' life, the silence of the other Gospel writers can tell a story. As you read the accounts of Jesus birth, you will notice some strong patterns. For example, the only way we know what Joseph experienced is through Matthew's accounts. Also, it is easy to assume that Joseph took Jesus and Mary to Egypt within a day or two of Jesus' birth… that is until you read all of the accounts together and see that there are other events that happened in between.
I hope that you will discover other new insights and blessings as you read through the unabridged account of Jesus' life. I have intentionally left this book as free of interpretive comment as possible, knowing that the chronological arrangement of some of the stories is, itself, a form of commentary.
