Jerry is a daily columnist for 94.5 Roxy radio in Olympia Washington. He has performed and published over 2200 essays, featuring humorous commentary on the cultural aberrations of modern society. The column, “America Ya Gotta Love It,” subtitled “Essays in Human Misunderstanding,” is a continuation of a series of writings and observations dating back to 1983, when Jerry did standup comedy in the Pacific Northwest. In 1987 he created, produced, and hosted a live comedy talk show called “Funny Guy on the Prowl” on Thurston Community Television. The show was well received and lasted for 13 years. At the turn of the century he began an online commentary known as Cynic’s Sideline, which later morphed into the current radio and blog format. Having successfully completed 3 marriages, and a significant period of single parenthood, Jerry describes himself as an analytical optimist, ready to think critically, but firmly believing in the basic goodness of humanity, even if it does sometimes follow annoying and predictable patterns. As Mr. Farmer puts it, “All cynics are secret romantics, but you still won’t find biscotti in a bowling alley.”
He’s not sure what that means either.
