It's 1972, and Dan McCarthy is trying his damnedest to dodge the draft, the Department of Superhuman Affairs, and his ex-girlfriend, but all three keep coming back to haunt him. His ex is finding him as hard a habit to kick as any addiction, and Dan't not quite sure why he can't get over her and move on with a new girlfriend. His friends are trying to keep him on an even keel, but he's had a hard time finding direction since getting expelled from school. The disappearance of several of unregistered superheroes he knows is sending him down increasingly dark alleys in search of answers, even if he's not sure if he can find them before his own number comes up. Before this is done, Dan will have to confront other metahumans, the government, and Misty's new boyfriend to figure out where he needs to go.
