Short description

Was it the wine? Or maybe the wedding? Why would a simple dance with his friend Ginger send Sam's world into a whirlwind? Desire slammed into him, and nothing was the same again. Ever. Should they fight the attraction? Or would it be best to simply give in to it and then get the heck over it? Indeed, they did give in to it. But getting over it? Much easier said than done.

Extended description

Sam and Ginger knew each other all their lives. They grew up together. They still lived next door to each other. So why after thirty-some year were they suddenly sneaking around, trying to have an affair? Both were unattached and the timing seemed perfect, at least in Sam's mind. But Ginger was wary, afraid that when the passion had faded—as she was confident it would--Sam would no longer be her friend. Their friendship was more important to her than a quick fling, which seemed to be all Sam was looking for. Fate chose to side with Ginger, preventing Sam from achieving his goal. Ultimately, no match for Sam's perseverance, Fate finally gave up, stepped aside and declared "have at it" but not without throwing some obstacles in their way. Just when it all seemed to be working so well—that deafening thud they heard was the sound of everything falling apart.

LOVE this book!! I'm not much on romance novels, and Schede doesn't write the 'typical' romance novel. She got the "southernisms" down to a fine art, and I found myself reaching for my tablet, wanting to see 'what next?'. Very enjoyable, and a great way to spend an rainy afternoon! Now I'm going to find her other book and read it.

Carol Schede is the queen of anticipation. Ready Or Not is a fun romp through the intricacies of a romance set in the south. Tennessee, to be precise. The heroine, Ginger Lee, does her southern sisters proud, not only with her `big' hair, but also the way she wraps her poor unsuspecting neighbor and lifelong friend, Sam Pepper, around her elegant finger. Then torments him until he's on his knees. I love the-girl-next-door stories and, hands down, this one is the best I've read for a long while. Great humor and heartfelt passion.

Schede shines again with her next story. Ready or not shows us again that she can write friends growing into more than just friends. Warm like a cup of hot chocolate and spicy at the same time, Ready or Not is something you can curl up with anytime. Love this one and highly recommend it.
