Extended description

CHiP, is a young adult novel that takes place in a future dystopia where Advanced Research in Micro Machine Biology—ARM for short—an enigmatic, yet increasingly powerful multinational corporation, is attempting to establish a worldwide presence. The Company, as its employees name it, seeks to induct new recruits from among promising high school students by planting agents among them. These agents are enhanced individuals who have been altered using revolutionary microchip technology that augments their pre-existing skills and even provides them with amazing new abilities. Their goal is to recruit new potential agents who will, in turn, extend the increasing reach of ARM throughout the globe. That is, if they survive the induction process.

This sci-fi-fantasy-futureistic novel is full of young adult/teen drama and centers around the relationships of two people Teig and Tia. The author's (Aviva Bel'Herold) chosen format is; one chapter is written from Tia's perspective and then the same scene or time period is from Teig's viewpoint. At first I didn't know how she could make it work and still keep it interesting as you are repeating a lot of the same scenes, but she does and how! I didn't think it was repetitive at all, but more like I had my own super power and could be in two places at once, cool! The author also makes you care about the characters and what is going to happen to them and not just the leads but the supporting ones like the bratty sister.

It was a very engaging story, I couldn't put it down and many times stayed up late to read just one more chapter. :) I also found it interesting how the author took what is happening today and said if we continue on this same path - in not that many years - this is where we could end up. Because 2047 is NOT that many years away, yes I would be in my 70's but I would still be alive (hopefully :)!

Currently I'm eagerly anticipating the release of the second book in the series! :) Because this is really an AWESOME book. And I haven't even touched on the 'superpowers', human/family drama, or the evil corporation that is trying to take over the world, aka: ARM. Seriously I think this would make an AWESOME MOVIE!!! And highly encourage the author to start on a screen play! :) LOVE IT!!!
