About Devlin Church

Devlin was born to a pair of Wild West rodeo show performers who later became regulars with a traveling circus. It made for an interesting time growing up. Was performing on stage at three having bits of paper the size of a cigarette snapped from her fingers by her mother's sixteen foot bullwhip.

Since someone decided it would be useful for her to know how to read and write, she ended up at Catholic boarding school. It was an equitable trade-the nuns gave her literacy and she gave them heartburn.

During the summer months she traveled with the circus and was lucky enough to count very special people as her friends, including Gorilla Girl, Caterpillar Man, Alligator Boy and many more denizens from the sawdust covered carnival midway.

Past and present lives, a Technical Writer, hypnotist, Improvement Manager and artist.

Lame science, oxygen does not burn. Read about half of the work before giving up on it.

The author has re-established, in a few forceful words, the age-old saga of life and death and their cycle...nice read!!

A quick read that definitely makes you think! It reminds you life goes on even in the harshest times. Maybe not human life.. but life does go on. Wonderful Story!

Fast paced and leaves you wondering. What happens after the last sentence of this piece? What does the future hold for this singed new world?

Fast read. A bit depressing, because we think in terms of humankind. Gives back the actual perspective that we aren't "all that." It left me wanting more. Good stories leave you that way. Even still I want to know more about the new life; I want hope that WE will be there again. Egotistical human, I am.

The short story was well thought up and written. Food for thought. Good job. I look forward to reading more stories from the author.

A bit of chemistry here: a conflagration needs both the oxygen mentioned in this story, and something to combust with. The atmosphere of Earth has no such element, only non-combustible nitrogen. If it did, it would have long ago experienced the apocalypse so mentioned. But the Earth’s history has experienced such similar catastrophic events in the past, so it’s conceivable it will happen again. Everything seems to occur in cycles.
