I couldn't get far into this novella. The first five or so percent of the book (according to Stanza reader) was a series of tedious descriptions of inanimate objects in the room. I wanted to know what the people were doing, but instead was reading detailed descriptions of what was on the coffee table, sitting beside a character, or some such thing.
Some details about the setting are important, yes, but this opening bogged me down too much even for skimming.
