About CD Hussey

CD Hussey has been writing for as long as words came from the end of her pencil instead of just scribbles. In her grandmother's basement, CD and her sisters would spend hours writing romance stories and having Barbie and her friends act them out. She wrote her first full length novel at 12, rewrote it at 16, rewrote it again at 25, and then put it on the shelf and started a new series.

When not writing, CD Hussey enjoys a career as a professional engineer in the Midwest. A chronic hobbyist, CD's interests range from mountain biking to belly dancing, and include everything in between. Currently, CD's obsession is aerial silks, but past obsessions have included fire poi and hula hoop. CD calls these the "burning man" hobbies, and hopes to infuse her writing with some of the fun and unique creativity found in the desert festival.

La Luxure is the first released book in a series of separate but related Romantica "light" novels set within the Human Vampire community in New Orleans. Besides exploring the world of Human Vampires, CD also enjoys writing fantasy romance. Favorite authors include JR Ward, Terry Brooks, and David Eddings.

The vampire romance loving heroine enters a bar during a conference in New Orleans and begins to suspect that it is a vampire hang-out. It starts with an edgy mood and transitions to vampire romance but with a totally unexpected twist.

I truly enjoyed this book. The characters were completely believable and drew you in right off the bat. Julia, your smart, "vanilla" girl next door. Armand(geez even his name oozes sensuality), sexy, dangerous, "so not vanilla" club owner. I love the fact the bookWas written from both Julia's & Armand's perspective, always a plus I'm my book. The descriptive witting, the details that went into every chapter were complete captivating. I have to say, waiting until chapter 9 or 10 before they hooked up, hot damn, I couldn't even stand my sexual frustration!  Their love story was believable, and I must say, I too believed he was true to "character". I would've reacted the same as her and actually found myself with my mouth open in shock unable to close. Their reunion is St Louis, the first make up kiss....Hot.Sexy.Amazing. I am so ready for book two, writer did a great job at captivating her audience. Must read.

A REAL vampire love story.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were believable (weird, considering the subject) and the setting was modern and rich. The relationship grew naturally. The heroine came to all the same conclusions about her hero as a normal woman would. I immediately went out and bought the next in the Human Vampire Series. I was not disappointed. You won't be either.

As the first book in the Human Vampire series, it will help to educate you in the ways of live human vampires. When you first meet Julia Brown, you meet an understated engineer who is in desperate need to change her life, make it exciting or at least something to make her humdrum less humdrum. After a fortune teller and a bad "date", she goes to a La Luxure, a underground bar that seems to serve goths. There she meets Armand Laroque, and there is an instant connection. Then a death occurs and she feels that he is somehow connected to it. Through it all, you wonder will they be able to be together, or will their differences keep them apart?

When I first started reading this book, I was pretty sure I knew who was what and what was who. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised through this book as I learned about Live Human Vampires, some blood fetishes, and the beauty of New Orleans. There are some great twists, and you learn to love the characters quickly -- Julia's sister Claire reminds me too much of a friend I had in college!--
I can't wait to read the next book, and am looking forward to more from Ms. Hussey.

This was a great book! The author's writing was so descriptive I felt like I was actually in New Orleans with the characters in the story. I also enjoyed Julia's character because she was very relateable. I think many women wish for more mystery and excitement in thier lives like she did. I can't wait to read about what happens in the next book!

This book was okay. I was a little disappointed at who Armond turned out to be at the end. It lacked mystery and danger. There was SOME mystery and danger, just not ENOUGH. The sex scenes where hot and well written, but there were typos and missing words throughout the book. It was pretty good for a free book.

An enjoyable read and an ending that surprises and amuses. The pages turn quickly and leave one wondering what comes next. Well done.
