Sheriff Cas Larkin has his hands full running for office again unopposed; two homicides; and his wife, Connie, encounters classic 'haunting conditions' in the Pine County Library basement. Both of them follow cold trails and hot clues to solve four murders, two of them more than a hundred years old.
The Nelson Scandal, second in the Maryvale series, begins with Cas Larkin running unopposed for Sheriff gain; two very different homicides Cas believes are connected; and his wife, Connie, has quit her job in nearby Ft. Craig to freelance secretarial work in Maryvale. Also, Connie encounters classic 'haunting symptoms' in the Pine County Library basement as she looks for information about Mary Lou Nelson's love affair with a handsome Frenchman. The town was named for Mary Lou and it takes a seance as well as following hot clues and cold trails for Cas and Connie to solve four murders, two of them more than a hundred years old.
