A charming little fable ... though I had trouble suspending disbelief over the middle of the story. If you're tool-using, you should be able to tell animate from inanimate so I found the middle unconvincing.

Newert the Erbit lives in Windlier Woods, and must fulfill a promise he made to his master to bring the magic back. His master died hundreds of years ago, but Newert was given a job to search for this magic in other realms, steal it, and bring it back home. If not, Newert believes Windlier Woods will fade away.
The story is warm, and exciting to experience what our modern world looks like through the eyes of this charming little character. The author, N. R. Williams, is an extremely talented, imaginative, and colorful author. All children will fall in love with Newert, and their parents will enjoy watching their excitement.
The Magic of Windlier Woods is a little book that should be in all children's libraries.

The magic of Windlier Woods is a nice, short, children's story about an erbit named Newert. It is very much in the ilk of Enid Blyton, if your children enjoy that kind of story, they will probably enjoy this. There is some nice imagery in the piece and I liked the idea of casting spells through song. I'm not entirely sure what an erbit is, as it isn't explained in the story, but I presume that it is some sort of fae creature.
There are some problems grammar and sentence structure, to elaborate, there are one or two instances of present tense appearing in a largely past tense narrative. Also, there are a few instances of sentences starting with 'And', 'Or' and 'But', however it still reads well and doesn't detract too much from the story.
It finishes a little early for my taste, I would have liked to have spent some more time with the main character and got to know more about this fantasy realm, but there seems to be plenty of opportunity for more adventures to be written about the character.
All in all, a decent read.
