I really enjoyed reading this book. There was a balance with the love, life and finding ourselves.

I just read the story today and liked it. The steamy scenes were dreamy and just the right kind of graphic and the plot didn't draw out too much.

Still, there are a few things that irked me a little (beware SPOILERS!):

1) John: Why would a woman like Allie stay together with such a ... man? He's clearly not making her happy and I as the reader couldn't really unterstand why she would choose to stay with him and not look for someone who's better suited. It would've been nice to know how she could fall into that trap and stay there. (He isn't even good-looking and his plump figure clearly bothered her.)

2) Her friends: I thought them all a bit flat in character. Throughout the story I had the feeling that they were merely constructed to imprison Allison so she had someone to fight. I would've liked if there was more to Rachel, or her husband.

3) Circumstances: I wondered why Ray didn't cut Allison's money off. Couldn't he do it? If so, why? And if he could, why didn't he? Considering their fight I was sure he'd go as far as leaving her more or less destitute. To me her sacrifice for Stan would have meant even more, because the old man had all and she had nothing in the end (not that she needs it, but still).

But despite all this (the major things I wondered about) I really liked the style and the paranormal elements. For free, it was a very good read and I think I'll go and check the author's other stories out now :-)

Wonderful story. The writing is superb. One of the best novellas I have ever read on the net or in print. The author has an amazing ability to communicate passion and human emotion. Highly recommended.

I read this awhile ago & absolutely loved it. Had me guessing how the obstacles were going to be overcome & still the final resolution caught me by surprise. Don't want to spoil it by saying more.

I had to convert a pdf version to mobi & had issues with inserting extra spaces when words ended with 'lly', so if you do convert be sure to keep ligatures. So happy that it is now on Smashwords where you can download the formats you want. I plan to replace my converted file with this one & enjoy reading it again.

Thanks Shawn for a delightful book. Plan to start Melody & the Pier to Forever soon, which I think is an entirely different kind of book.
