Fantastic piece of storytelling and characterization. These along with a fully believable setting and vivid imagery made this short story a joy to experience. A few minor typos do not detract from this tense and heartrending tale about a grandmother and former mercenary who must decide to take up her sword again to help save her village from terrifying, bloodthirsty monsters. This is one of those stories that, when I read the last word, I sat back and sighed, my heart full of emotions. Readers of fantasy will not be disappointed.
