This book helped me realize the prejudice in today's main stream culture. The open, honest, and frank way this was written made this book impossible to put down. I laughed so hard I cried... again and again. I ached for the struggles of this family. This story can be told because they were honest and brave enough to endure. It is about the humanitarian rights we take for granted. This subject matter is something we all should consider in every aspect of our lives. Very moving and spectacularly written. Thanks for awakening me!

This book is one that is difficult to put down once you start reading it! Much credit to the author, her partner, and their family and friends for the complete honesty that is written in this book so that we, the readers, can learn the difficulties many in our society still have with things some of us completely take for granted. The emotions that it stirs up are everything from laughter to love to sadness of the realization that there is still so much discrimination in our society. And the love story is simply beautiful. I think this is a must read for everyone!!!

This is an important book... it stirs in fun, political, lesbian, women and life issues that are not often written about or published, unfortunately. It is always refreshing to read something so brave and real. LOVE IT!

I don’t read that often because I frankly don’t have the time or the attention spanned, but I was online last week and came across this book and I started to read the sample and I couldn’t put my laptop down. I love the humor along with the true life story. I’m actually excited the book was publish because it is perfect timing for me as I just come out as a lesbian and I have two young children. It was helpful to me in the way that it made me feel better about being who I am along with being a mommy. Thank you for sharing your story I enjoyed reading it and found it to be empowering!
