Brianna Lee Book Reviews
on Oct. 29, 2012 :
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I will be honest and say that this is the very first same sex romance that I have read. There have been books I read where same sex or bisexual relationships occurred, but it was more as an afterthought in the story and never the main idea. “Moonglow” by Charlie Romo is a story of two lead females in a romantic relationship set in a futuristic fashion scene. Overall, I rate this book 3.5 STARS. I liked the story and thought that Charlie Romo did a good job writing it.
The main characters of “Moonglow” are Rena and Shell. Rena is a twenty-two year old super model and her lover Shell is a forty-three year old manager at Moonglow Modeling Management. This story takes place in the busy future city of Moonglow. I enjoyed reading about all the different shaped buildings in the city. The fast paced life of the modeling world brings Rena to have meaningless flings with women other than Shell. Usually Shell does not care about her unfaithfulness because she knows Rena truly loves her. Except…Rena’s latest fling might be more than insignificant sex. There is a history between Rena and her newest interest, and Shell has rightful reason to worry. Join Rena and Shell as they deal with Rena’s infidelity and see what happens!
So like I said, this is the first actual same sex romance that I have read. I was a little skeptical at first when I found out about the lesbian romance, even though I am completely for gay rights. I just wasn’t sure how the author would portray the relationship and romance. I did like how Charlie Romo handled writing about Rena and Shell though…as well as all Rena’s flings. To me, it was just a romance and I could almost forget it was with two females (not that I wanted to though!). Same sex romances never bothered me at all, but I know a lot of people are iffy about it or completely against it. Obviously if you are against it, then this book is not right for you. But, if you have an open-mind and just want to read a good story regardless of who is hooking up with whom, then you should check out “Moonglow” by Charlie Romo. Give this 3.5 STAR book a chance and see what you think!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As someone who has never really had much interest in the world of fashion, I found the story, the characters and the interactions throughout to be very gripping and intriguing. I became deeply and emotionally involved in the multiple romances and the highs and lows that came along with each of them.
This book and its writer have certainly opened my eyes to greater things and broadened my horizons over the years and I look forward to what the future holds for him, for the world of Moonglow and whatever else may come. Excellent read. Highly recommended to all. You don't have to be a fashion enthusiast to enjoy this book, but if you're not, you may become one by the time you're finished. Enjoy!

Not only does this book take you inside the world of high fashion but it also gives a hard looks at same sex relationships. There’s definitely a message here even though I felt the author may have played a little to the cliché side of the fashion world and promoted the lesbian relationships inspired by this profession. Still, the relationships were real and the author shared the pain and immense highs that go with any pairing.
Moonglow was well written and the story moved along even though there was a lot of exploring of feelings and stage setting. I don’t think it was overdone however there might have been a character or two that could have been left out entirely. Sometimes its so easy to get pulled into liking a character that its hard to see when they actually have no value to the story.
Generally, I liked this story. There were no surprises but it was a nice, down home look at a different type of love and I think a good read. I recommend it.

OMG this is an amazing book that contains all the finer things in life. This a futuristic novel with a twist. Can I please mention the "living dresses".Mooonglow is one of a kind that depicts a love story that trumphs at the end despite all the misunderstandings and pain that Reena and Shell go through.
