About Teresa DeMars

Teresa DeMars is an author, illustrator, and publisher. As a mother of two children, one of which was diagnosed with autism in 2008, DeMars wondered how she would explain the diagnosis to her son and his younger sister. As a result she was inspired to write and illustrate her first book, ASD and Me: Learning about High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder.

In addition to autism advocacy, DeMars enjoys traveling on back country roads, exploring small towns, and learning about all things history. She lives with her husband, two children, and two curious cats in Faribault Minnesota.

Explaining Autism to Children: ASD and Me
My daughter, Anna (age 4), and my son, Donnie (age 7), narrated this video. They did such a great job and I am so proud of them!!! Donnie was diagnosed with autism when he was three years old. This video previews the book ASD and Me, which I wrote to explain autism to my son and other children.
