Short description

Lady Tabitha Shelton made a vow to her cousins--they'd all become old maids together, just like Aunt Rosaline. This should be easy enough, since she's rather plump and unappealing, but her father keeps raising her dowry. Noah deLancie, Marquess of Devonport inherited a pile of debts, and must marry for money or else.

Extended description

The choice between adhering to a long-held pact and finally accepting love could prove Lady Tabitha Shelton’s unhinging. She is plump, plain, pleasant...and thoroughly unappealing to any of the men of the ton—apart from fortune hunters. A self-appointed wallflower, she has every intention of remaining one. Tabitha made a vow of spinsterhood with her cousins when they were girls, and she refuses to go back on her word. So far, she’s proven herself quite adept at warding off the blasted fortune hunters’ pursuits.

Noah deLancie, Marquess of Devonport, would prefer to marry for love and companionship—he’s a gentleman through and through—but circumstances have forced his hand: he needs money as badly as he needs a bride. When Noah’s brother-in-law suggests pursuit of his sister, Tabitha, a woman with a dowry large enough to cause even Croesus to blush and who is tantalizingly good company to boot, Noah stumbles into the future he hopes to secure. It was even better than expected. A good, traditional romance
with a few nice twists and turns in the plot.

I loved how this lady wasn't skinny as a rail like all the other books in this era are. And he truly loves her which makes this a great read. I loved this book and can't wait to see what happens with the other 2 cousins...

I've read dozens of books from this site and this one I just had to review! Sweet, funny, fast paced all round tender romance sure to please any hopeless romantic. Really nice story. Now I simply must read the other stories in the series and anything else by this author!

It is still the same in this day and age that full figure women are looked down on in society. However there are men like the hero Noah we see the beauty in Tabitha even though she can not see it in herself. It is a story of self discovery and love. A good read
