She boards it to find that it’s an automated gunship that responds to her commands. She instantly plots revenge against Ra, unaware that using her new ability has just revealed to a vicious alien race that she is the reincarnated queen who enslaved them in her murderous past life.

"Origin: Unknown" is an extraordinarily well-written, beautifully conceived work of sci-fi literature. Ms. Stachowiak has clearly done her homework- while never seeming to overtly ape other authors, her writing does reflect a passion for such luminaries as Lois McMaster Bujold, Robert Heinlen, Ray Bradbury, and others- and she has produced a tremendously enjoyable book. With an eye for both pace and nuance, "Origin:Unknown" has that ineffable, 'un-put-downable' quality shared by all great science fiction. This book comes highly recommended- both rip-roaring fun and thought-provoking exploration of the boundaries of the sci-fi genre, "Origin:Unknown: is well worth purchasing.
