Excellent series. Historic romances one of my favorites. Set in my hometown, this series held my attention page after page. If history, romance and mystery are your thing, these are definitely books you should read.

Very well researched and well written series. The weaving of social history with mystery made each book enjoyable. I read the stories back to back and liked the character development. By the end of the series I was sad to realize that I wouldn't have any more to read. Guess I will just have to make it a point to re-read the series next year to renew my acquaintance with the characters.

I really enjoyed this series and would recommend it to anyone that is interested in historical mysteries (with an added love story compenent as well!) Each novel is not that long on its own, so having all six together was a really nice way to read them (sort of as one really long novel with a number of parts).

I would definitely recommend this series to people who like C.S. Harris' Sebastian St. Cyr books or Deanna Raybourn's Lady Julia Grey series. Enjoy!

4 1/2 stars really
The box-set is a wonderful bargain. The series was a joy to read. I enjoyed every book in this series, especially the first,Still Life with Murder, and book #3, Death on Beacon Hill, and any moment with Will really. I developed a bit of a crush on him. This series really got me hooked on reading mysteries again, something I hadn't done since my teen years. Overall I was impressed with the quality of the writing and attention to detail. I was a little disappointed with the treatment of the series climax in the final novel, I would have liked to see it all come together through Nell's point of view, or at least an epilogue, rather than the newspaper article denouement we received at the end.

One caveat, readers who are especially sensitive to the subject of sexual assault might want to skip this series, as it is a central plot point in several of the novels and is mentioned in reference to character back-story throughout the series.

These books were fantastic! It's nice to have the whole series in one place. The characters are intriguing, and the mysteries are quite enjoyable too. Highly recommended for those who enjoy historical mysteries (with a little bit of romance thrown in for good measure).
