RanDumb Reading
First attempt at reading various chapters from my book - 'Randumb: The Adventures of an Irish Guy in LA' (Snap her up!) Plan is to read different chapters, give background stories of what actually happened here and there, fill in a few blanks and at the same time make myself clearer and more comfortable with being on camera. That was the plan at least... Tut.

I really enjoyed this book. It's not a "how-to" about how to crack Hollywood, more an honest and very funny account of one guy's disorganised yet sometimes successful attempts to do this.

Mark Hayes goes to the States with no real plan of action apart from wanting to act and write. He just goes for it and makes it up as he goes along, and this leads to some pretty strange adventures. Broke yet living with two models, always on the cusp of something happening yet never quite making it, this is a tongue-in-cheek story of an Irish guy attempting to make it in Hollywood. There's "The Bucket" - a dire vehicle he buys on Craigslist, his mad hippie neighbour who tries to get him involved in an orgy, a very odd trip to Mexico. Playing soccer at Robbie Williams' house and trying to sell cleaning products at a funfair in the same week.

And of course, the sheer weirdness of LA itself, where everyone is on the make and no one can understand Hayes' Cork accent.

I enjoyed this story and thought it was a good read. Give it a bash - you will laugh and maybe even get some tips on how to do this yourself!
