Robert de London is an orphan of the Church, a minor cleric employed in the Court of King John of England. With no family connections, Robert must rely on himself to make something of his life. One of the best historical fiction books since Sharon K. Penman. The author obviously knows his history and also writes in a way that non history buffs get drawn in. A well written book especially for a first book. I love that a map, character list and glossary is provided. I look forward to reading more from Mr. Nolan.

An enjoyable read with lots of vivid descriptions and believable characters. Mr Nolan provides readers with a very approachable taste of Medieval culture and customs.
