The last person she expected to see at the airport is Mike Dalton, Kevin's brother. Kevin is the young man she used to have a crush on. Now that she was older, she still wanted to know how she felt about Kevin, but Mike wasn't having any of that. He had definite plans to keep her away from his brother.

When Dixie meets Mike's daughter, it's love at first sight and the little girl not only steals her heart but asks her to play Pretend Mom. A position Dixie could easily get used to if she let herself, especailly when Amanda's dad kisses her.
