Extended description

Rusty Miller, Californian born surfer, musician and photographer, who has been an Australian resident since 1973, annually publishes Rusty's Byron Guide, est. 1984. It is a compilation of stories and images that reflect the spirit and feeling of the society, politics, and culture of Byron Bay, the most easterly point of the Australian mainland. Rusty's Byron Guide takes a look at the grass roots of what makes this place tick by printing the words and images of locals who have been captured by its magic and visitors who are likely to be searching for a way to live here. It is Socratic in that the guide is about the 'examined life.' If there is a common denominator of meaning for Byron Bay, I would say that this is a place where the overall atmosphere and dynamic inclines people to find or remind themselves of our interrelationship with both environmental nature and our own inner nature.
