After meeting an old World War II veteran, James regrets never having the opportunity to know Ben his biological grandfather. The Japanese in the South Pacific shot down Ben’s Corsair and his best friend Carl married Ben’s wife after the war. James discovered a time machine and schemes to travel back to 1944 to save Ben’s life. Since James was experienced in flying Carl’s Corsair, he figured he could easily fit in as a Marine pilot in 1944. The time machine worked and James traveled back to 1944 where he tried to stop Ben and Carl from getting orders to the South Pacific. It didn’t work so James was able to finagle orders to the South Pacific at the same base with Ben and Carl. James flew with Ben and Carl while they fought the Japanese over the Pacific Ocean. Then that ill-faded day arrived, and James was able to save Ben’s life only after discovering the truth behind how his grandfather was shot down.
