This parody of “helpful hints” newspaper feature articles is inspired by In a Flash, by Smoky Trudeau Zeidel and by Morning Satirical News, a weblog by Malcolm R. Campbell.Zeidel, who was struck by lightning twenty-two years ago, recounts her true story of the event and its aftermath in her e-book In a Flash.
Campbell, who has seen lightning outside the window, uses his “Jock Stewart” alter ego on his weblog to satirize real and/or imaginary events.
For legal reasons, Zeidel and Campbell warn that while real lightning has probably occurred in Zigzag, Oregon and on Mt. Hood’s Zigzag Glacier, the story you are about to read is as fictional as a bolt of lightning in a fabric store.
Use of this volume as a lightning rod has not been authorized by the NOAA National Weather Service.
