Extended description

Book 4 of the 'High Stakes' series.

Fate has a strange way of throwing people together, no matter how much they try to fight against it.

Lord Jacob Byron is horrified to discover that his father has entered him into a betrothal, for he has no intention of marrying a woman he has not chosen for himself. Fleeing to an inn to seek solace in a bottle of whiskey, he stumbles across Lily Sinclair.

Lily too has fled from her family to escape a betrothal she has no wish to adhere to. Desperate and alone, she is forced to throw herself upon Jacob's mercy, but together they find that the idea of marriage is perhaps not as horrible as they had always imagined...

If this plot was featured on a stage, I would call it a short farce in two acts. Unfortunately, this plot seemed even more contrived than the second book in this series did.
