The Earth has been devastated by tragedy. After an alien voice broadcasts a Countdown around the world, all life above water ages 50 years. All plant and animal life is gone in an instant, and all human life ages 50 years. The stars change, signaling the Earth has traveled to a new location. The survivors are faced with two daunting tasks; how do they recover from disaster, and how can they prevent another from happening again?
Brian is a Prototype; a fourteen year old child, born shortly after Countdown, with chemically enhanced intelligence. He, and other children like him, work on preparing a Space Shuttle for launch to confront the aliens believed responsible for the tragedy. They live in the Homestead; one of the last communities of humans on Earth. Brian faces a father who despises the opportunities he has, a father born to be a Grunt; a class of people whose only function is to procreate and cleanse the cities of the plentiful dead. Bri..
