This is the first book in the Kilted Desire Series and we follow Scott Maclaren on a 6 month security contract in Bagdad. Not only is he facing danger with his job, but the client he has to protect has got her eyes set on him and won't give up her attempts to seduce him. But Scott is a man of honor & truth and one that is faithful to the woman he loves and waits for him at home. I loved the combination of action, suspense, some humor and steamy scenes. And not to forget that sexy Scottish accent our hero Scott has. I was glad I found this book because it is an absolute must read.

Scott Mcclaren is part of the British Army Special Forces. He's also 100% Scottish. He's the type of man everyone woman dreams she'll have in her life one day. Katie Johnson is a teacher and soon to be divorcee. She's trying to start over, slowly. This book follows the journey these two make and the crossroads they face.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I won't say much about it because if I do it gives spoilers and I don't do that as those of you who follow my blog know. If you want a book to sweep you away this is it! If you want action, it's here. If you want machismo it's here. This is a book you will finish in one sitting because it's that good. If you put it down it won't be for very long. I can't find anything bad about this book. Written by one of the few male romance writers, it delivers on all counts. This book has to be in your collection. BUY IT!

A B McKinley did a wonderful job with this book, it is amazing, it has all the wonderful things that you would want in a book. It makes you feel what the characters are feeling with the Love and Passion that they have for each other. and it also has some betrayal. And knowing that it is a true story just makes it even more amazing. I can't wait to read more from this AMAZING Author. Elizabeth Keckler

Kilted Desire – Sands of Betrayal
by A.B. McKinley

Some authors tell stories, some paint pictures, A.B. McKinley draws us into his world of love, intrigue and betrayal. Right from his first words on paper you hear Scott’s accent, feel his embrace and sensual kisses with Katie, you feel the urgency when the bomb explodes in Iraq.

As our hearts pound through the streets of Bagdad, will Scott weave his way through the City and keep the woman he is paid to keep safe out of harm’s way?

Honor, Integrity and Charm would be the words I use to describe the main character, Scott Maclaren, as well as sexy, sensual and intriguing! This is a book for both sexes, men will love it as much for the sensual love scenes and all the “going’s on” in Bagdad’s Green Zone… a must read for the men too!

Personally, I do not review all books I read… too many of them I guess. Kilted Desire – Sands of Betrayal is exceptional…I truly hated to turn the last page, I wanted to know more (a sign of an “exceptional” book) The author writes from his heart and soul… a refreshing and delightful combination. I hope this author continues to write for many, many years to come, I look forward to reading many more.

While I enjoyed the book, I can not put my finger on why I didn't love it as a whole. I loved the back ground, the plot and the dialect. I felt as though some of the conversations felt forced in the way that they were presented to the readers.
I am looking forward to more from this author. I believe that there is a lot more great stories to be heard.

A awesome fast paced read. I felt it was smart, passionate and extremely sexy. It was action packed and suspenceful. The book had me guessing throughout and had me on pins and needles toward the end. I also thought it was very thought provoking and emotional. I even teared up a bit in parts. I would recommend Kilted Desire~Sands of Betrayal and would love to read more of A.B. Mckinley's work.

Finished it in less than a day - not because it was short...but because I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!!... I read the 1st half one evening (via the sample) and the 2nd half just tonight!! What made this book appealing to me is I was told it's based on true events!

I highly recommend this book for any romance buff. It was a fast read, a smooth read, a page turner!! ...and the characters were REAL. With real insecurities and real day-to-day dramas. There were plenty of exciting "blockbuster" moments, too. You will NOT be disapointed!! It has a great balance of everything you'd want in a book. ...and the sex was STEAMY erotic - woa baby!

There were a few unexpected surprises, too! Caught myself gasping...but I won't give it away. I love books that have a way of bringing me into their world.... takes me away from my own reality for a little while.

Read it!

This is an interesting book...it is straight romance with some great love scenes in it. It is well put together and the action scenes are awesome!!!! He has great potential to go in either direction...straight romance w/action or erotica. Well worth the money and time...can't wait to she what he will do next.

A very enjoyable read. Characters are developed extremely well. The books prologue gives background details of the hero, Scott, his military background and his recovery from the horrendous injuries he suffered, both physically and emotionally. Early chapters focus on Scott and Katie's enforced separation before flashback chapters show how they met and fell in love. The flow of the book is very smooth and it is very easy to read. The story then shifts to the violent streets of Baghdad where we meet Britney, a flirtatious rich bitch who you will love to hate. It is very interesting to see the relationship between Katie and Britney develop as at first Katie despises her for obvious reasons. Then later in the story when Scott is injured she needs her help so starts to soften towards her a little. I won't give too much away but I really enjoyed the scenes set in Scotland, very romantic and sexy. You will find yourself becoming emotionally involved with the characters, even with Britney. Overall the combination of dialogue and descriptive sections was perfect and the story was not at all predictable, I definitely was surprised in virtually every chapter. Great book, more please.

Kilted Desire, Sands of Betrayal by first time author A.B. McKinley is a wonderfully enjoyable romp through the battlefield that is love! Main character, Scott, a former member of British Special Forces, already having suffered disaster in his life, many times over, meets beautiful, single mom Katie and sparks fly. But will their love endure Scott’s next hair raising adventure? Full of steamy romantic interludes, breathtaking tension, and surprises, this book is a rip-roaring, adventure packed page turner, and a guilty pleasure for romance and adventure lovers alike. Kilted Desire is a perfect beach read, a bit like a box of chocolates… full of surprises; which lovely scintillating flavor will you pop in your mouth next? Could you use a little inspiration in the bedroom with YOUR manly man? This is a book that you MIGHT be able to get your man to read out loud to you for some fun before bed!!! All my girlfriends highly recommend page 83 for inspiration the next time a little couple’s time is imminent! I would love to hear the story touched on in the forward as well! Scott’s adventures pre-Katie were very intriguing… how did he conquer all his former obstacles to get to her? Could a pre-quel be in the making? I couldn’t put it down and just had to find out what happened next for Katie and Scott. Would their love survive each new roadblock? From Iraqi insurgents, to ex-husbands, to looming foreclosures, this couple’s romance is constantly under attack and in peril! Could ANY man resist 6 months in a hotel room with a beautiful woman intent on having him? Can Katie manage to overcome her financial difficulties and get that divorce so she and Scott can live happily ever after? Get the book! It’s a VERY satisfying read.

The story is Great! The beginning was a bit slow but once your into the book the mechanics of it gets lost as you find yourself rooting for the hero, a Scottish war veteran. The villains are actually villains you would enjoy not liking. I won't say more because I believe the villain is actually someone you should discover for yourself. The story is complex which makes for an interesting read. This would definitely be a read by the pool book.

I normally don't read anything other than paranormal, but took a chance on Kilted Desire and was pleasantly surprised. I expected "heaving bosoms" and "thrusting pelvises" (and all the other over-used cliche`s) but instead discovered McKinley's story of a Scottish war veteran falling in love. A beautiful mosaic of drama, romance, action, and (oh baby) spicy sex make up this smart read. I couldn't find anything else about this author, either, but can't help but wonder if there will be more to come.

I really loved this. Very unique. Still not sure if I would call it Romance, Suspense, Adventure or even Erotica, seemed to have everything and kept me intrigued to the very end. Was interesting to see how the characters and story developed. I can't find any more books or information on this author. I liked her writing style and would like to know more. Especially if there is going to be a sequel, I want to know what happens next!
