Description

Humans have evolved to their present form in a few million years. And they have risen to prominence in just a few thousand; a mere speck in earth’s unfathomable timeline. Are we the first to gaze into the heavens contemplating our fate? Here, I present a short tale pondering the shortcomings of sentience. Once upon a time, sixty-five million two hundred and forty-two thousand years ago...

Well done! A nice look at how things could have evolved if not for a huge impact an earlier intelligence could predict but not prevent. I look forward to reading other tales by this writer

A philosophical musing in a sci-fi setting. Is it better to be a sentient being, or is ignorance bliss? This story seems to have its roots in the Hinduism creation story which holds that the world is created many times, over and over again, and not just once and for all.

Enjoyed this tale. Made one start to question our own existance here. Liked it a lot!

Very good short story. It was interesting, and it was descriptive, but in a way that you didn't know enough for it to be more than a mystery about how the reckoning came to be. And that was what made the story so good. The story was very interesting. Well done!

I really like this story. It has a mythic quality about the language that draws me in. I like how the description of the creatures' physicality was kept to a minimum, allowing me to create a real wonderland of interesting creatures out of my own imagination. Nicely executed! I shall read more!
