About Tim Baker

Tim Baker was born and raised in Warwick, Rhode Island.
After graduating from The Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1980 he embarked on a career in Architecture and Engineering. Along the way he has also worked in the natural gas industry, construction and ice cream sales.
In his spare time he enjoys a wide variety of activities including sports of all kinds, music, photography, model building and, of course, writing.
An avid dog lover, Tim was a volunteer puppy raiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, raising and socializing potential guide dogs.
He has also studied and taught martial arts.
Inspired by his interest in Karma and the unexplained forces of the universe, he made his first serious attempt at writing in 1988 when he began writing a novel entitled Full Circle, a story about the far reaching effects that one man’s actions can have on people he has never even met.
Unfortunately without the use of a computer or even a typewriter he shelved the project due to the difficulties of trying to construct a novel completely by hand.
Even though Living the Dream is his first published novel he plans on completing Full Circle once his next novel Water Hazard is published.
Currently, Tim is enjoying life in Palm Coast, Florida.

In author Tim Baker's latest novel 'Back Seat to Justice' we follow Boston cop turned private-eye Steve Salem on a twisted tale of crimes and criminals that unknowingly adjust their "cosmic checkbook" as the story unfolds.

Tim is a volatile storyteller with a distinct minimalist, hard-boiled voice and style of writing. He builds plot(s) that, although complex, are as compelling as they are logical. Tim compels you to read on like a cokehead greedy for line after line after line.

Fans of Tim's previous books should get their kicks from 'Back Seat to Justice' and find in Steve Salem a worthy P.I.

Once the plot reaches its stride readers are in for an mysterious ride with many twists and turns. Just when you thought you knew what was going on, you find you don't.

The author has perfected his taut, no-nonsense dialogue. Tim can be funny, raunchy, and caustic when he chooses, but he can also take us, with oft rare sensitivity, inside the hearts of his main characters. He has the ability to crawl into the skin of diverse characters, from a female killer who hides her emotions behind a tough shell to a detective who is a loner in his personal life but personable in his investigation.

With 'Back Seat to Justice' author Tim Baker delivers a novel that should cement his standing in the detective mystery genre. The plot is rich and diverse; and above all, he gives the sense that much more is at stake than a straightforward whodunit. I believe that 'Back Seat to Justice' just may be a career-defining work from this rising mystery author.

Review by: Bea Wellman on April 15, 2012 :
This is the first book I've read by Tim Baker and while I expected the whole sleuthing PI and the murder bit; I did not expect the main character to appeal to me as he did. The truth is that I was pleasantly surprised with this book, it's not the typical step-by-step formula that happens to be big right now; instead I found the main character PI Steve Salem a bit of a rationalist and the twists and turns were really great. I thought the book to be over about mid way through, but I was wrong and I couldn't be happier about it because it kept me guessing.

Really great read - worth the time to check it out and I plan to read this author again.
