Emerald Barnes graduated with a B.A. in English with an emphasis on Creative Writing at Mississippi University for Women. She resides in a small town in Mississippi and has the accent to prove it.
She's the author of Read Me Dead and Piercing Through the Darkness. She mainly writes suspense/thrillers in the YA genre, but she dabbles in other genres and her books are enjoyed by all ages! Her short story, Wishes, was published by Phyllis Scott Publishing in their book, Blue Legs and other Coming of Age stories.
She's constantly working on new novels and has more ideas than she knows what to do with. She blogs at yaindie.com, emeraldbarnes.blogspot.com and ebarnes23.wordpress.com which takes up more of her time than she anticipates but loves it so very much!
She's an auntie to two beautiful nieces and two handsome nephews who take up the other half of her time, but she couldn't imagine spending her time in any other way!
She's a Whovian, a little bit of a nerd, a reader, a writer, and a family-oriented person. God is number one in her life, and she thanks Him continuously for His love and favor.

As I became engrossed in the tale of a college professor who has recently lost his wife and daughter and suddenly find the person "responsible" for this loss in his class, I was impressed with the fast paced writing, strong character development, and the intricate story Emerald Barnes manages to weave in such a short time. My one complaint though is that the story simply isn't long enough! I wanted more. I wanted to know more about Kandi, Jimmy, and John. If Piercing Through the Darkness is any indication of things to come, I look forward to reading more of Ms. Barnes work. I would give this 4.5 stars if that were an option.
Good job Ms. Barnes! Keep writing!

I recently read Piercing Through the Darkness by Emerald Barnes. I love the book and I plan on reading more books by the author. It was a great read. It combined action with a little bit of romance. This is a book I plan on keeping in my Kindle collection. I liked the words that the author used. It didn't have a lot of description, but enough to where you could picture things the way you wanted to envision them.
It was the perfect amount. In a book I don't like too much description because I don't feel like I get to use my imagination. The characters were very believable. It was fun to read and I hated when I had to put the book down. It was one of those books where you could keep reading and not know you had read a second chapter. Its a real page turner. I give it ***** Stars!
