About Kate Tenbeth

I live in Essex in the UK with my son and two cats, Puzzle and Bud. I've always loved writing and have now self-published 3 books and two short stories in the children's series Burly & Grum, and one novel, 'Unlucky Dip' for young adults. I'm very proud that one of the books in the Burly & Grum series 'The Secret City' was a finalist in the People's Book Prize Awards 2014.

I will continue to write and self-publish; I've learnt a lot and met some wonderful people along the way and I have a great sense of achievement. If anyone loves to write I would definitely recommend self-publishing - you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

I hope you enjoy my stories.

Kate :)

Absolutely beautiful story about the importance of friendship and sticking together. When Max is captures by some mean hunters, his best friends Burly and Max don't doubt for a minute that they'll save him. Together they embark on a breathtaking and at times hilarious adventure to save both Max and their beloved secret city.

I found this book not only inspiring but also cute and extremely well written. The author has a magical way with words that made the story come to life. The characters weren't just characters in my head; I could picture them before my eyes, I laughed with them and experienced their tension and joy. I absolutely adored this story and can't believe it's free. A great read not just for kids but also for the young at heart. Thoroughly recommended!

"BURLY AND GRUM AND THE SECRET CITY" BY KATE TENBETH

I just finished this book and I have to say it is simply adorable. There are fantastic morals in the story, lessons that every child should learn early on such as how it's wrong to hunt and harm animals, and how you can always count on your true friends to be there for you. The characters are cute and you can't help but to be drawn in by them. I love the fact that Kate also has elements of inspirational faith in her book such as the addition of the angel lovingly called Mike.

This book is a fantastic read and one I think children of all ages would enjoy. It has adventure, comedy, and thrills delivered in all the right amounts. My daughter is begging me to get her a Kindle so she can read it! I got a feeling she just might steal mine! The illustrations are also beautifully drawn, the artist has amazing talent. Thank you Kate for a beautiful story with characters that I could definitely see as stuffed toys! You just want to squeeze them tight!

My ten year old daughter loved this story. I gave it to her to read last night and she finished it this morning. The characters are fun, the story is exciting and it kept her entertained the entire time. Definitely a great read.

Another beautiful read by Kate Tenbeth. The story is charming, the characters delightful and her storytelling skills perfect. The second book is as good, if not better (if that's possible) than the first and children and adults alike will be carried along by this exciting and humourous tale.

The charming adventures of Burly and Grum continue is this beautifully crafted sequel. Again, the story is infused with gentle humour that will have you chuckling as you read, and the illustrations capture the characters and mood perfectly. I don't even have kids and I'm looking forward to the third story. There will be a third story, won't there?!
