This was pretty good - kept me engaged. And unlike most books, the ending was not totally predictable!
Spoiler Alert!
I couldn't figure out why Kali chose Lucifer, but I think that made it all the more intriguing. This was the first book I've read in a long time that wasn't completely expected at every turn.

This story was surprising it its ability to capture my interest. The overall plot weas unusual but there were some huge gaps of information missing. Kali seems a bit of a contradiction, one moment aware enough about the sexual attraction Chevalier has for her and the next surprised that Hanah is not her friend. Her rapid sexual relationship with Lucien is strange as is the explaination for Acelin's sudden love for her. She is not that interesting so I am unable to tell why everyone falls in love with her, reminds me of the girl from the popular vampire/werewolf series! I give it a 4 based on Lucifer who sounds darling and the pace which was nice and fast.

The introduction to the novel seemed appealing to me, but sadly I couldn't grap on the story as well.

This was a bit strange, I mean apart from the grammatical errors. There were a few scenes that were never explained thoroughly and made me wonder why they were included in the first place (the scene with the monk, what?). There were also several instances where I was confused as to what was going on.
Apart from that the heroine suffers from "everyone loves me syndrome" which is something I cannot relate to and makes the story a little bit silly. There is also some slight pedophilia going on, she's only sixteen when the story starts.
I don't plan on reading it again, it only peaked my interest as it was a devil based story (something I want to write about myself) and wanted to see how other writers had tackled the subject.

SPOILER ALERTS!
Interesting read, but I suppose my enthusiasm doesn't quite match other readers. While the concept was engrossing, I found that Kali seemed a bit too one-dimensional after she gave birth to her son. In the beginning, she had some semblance of a strong heroine by sacrificing herself for Chevalier's return, but after that she fades into the background and then Acelin falls in love with her as well. I probably wouldn't have minded except that the reasons for Acelin's attraction to her is unclear and that it seems her smile is enough to turn him away from his brother Arvin. The other characters need to be better developed as well, because the story requires some suspension of belief in their history. For example, how is Chevalier able to survive on 3 jobs? What was Kali thinking taking up Lucifer's offer of a house given she knew him less than a week? She justifies her answer, but it makes no sense to be honest. And Kali's background is sketchy; she remarks that she doesn't know how her grandmother was able to send her to her prestigious school. These are some questions that should be answered.
While it was engrossing, I hope the author revises the book because there were several mistakes peppered in the book. That being said, I encourage the author to continue. The book series is very promising. A little better characterization and correction of grammar mistakes would make better reading for everyone!

Some reviewers may call her a Mary-Sue. However, I'll steer clear of this.
While the plot was engrossing, I hope the author revises the book because there were several mistakes peppered in the book and the characters could have been better rounded. That being said, I encourage the author to continue. The book series is very promising but suffers from insufficiently rounded characters and grammatical errors that limit the enjoyment of the book.

With such a spell-binding plot, excellent world-building, as well as enchanting and entrancing characters, I can easily forgive the little grammar mistakes.
Lu can whip up a fabulous love-triangle that had me rooting for one boy, then the other until I gave up and just hoped for the best.
I enjoyed how the author fictionalized Heaven and Hell, giving it a Greek Myth feel.
The love of son for mother had me crying--great job for making me cry! ;) The author has a real knack for having the reader fall in love with everyone--both the good and bad.
I'd like to thank you, Dahlia Lu, for sharing your wonderful talent with this absolute page-turner.

I just finished reading this story. I have both good and bad things to say about it. Let's start with the bad: I think it was a little too draw out. A little slow in it's progression. And it skipped a lot throughout the progression of the story, leaving too many questions. Here is the good: Even though in the back of my mind I was say, "Will you hurry up already!" I honestly just couldn't stop reading it. I kept me clung to it somehow. I kept saying to myself "I'm just going to skip to the end..." but I found myself not wanting to spoil the progression of the story, in the attempt to get the entirety of the understanding of what was going on.
I won't spoil the story for you, as I find that it's actually pretty entertaining. I guess I will just have to get the second part...

I'm a Christian, so I was skeptical about this book at first... but once I started reading it, I couldn't stop! Such a brilliant story, worth reading over and over again.
My only complaint was the error with some words, but the story was good enough for me to ignore them! Can't wait to read more!

A sweet story that I found to be a wonderful if not a little twisted take on beings no one knows much about or truely understands. The only problem I have with the book is the subject verb agreement other than that though this story is a page turner that will draw you in and make you fall in love with the characters
