About Cheryl Hughey

Cheryl Hughey is a seasoned publicist of independent artists. Her company, Cheryl Hughey Promotions (CHP) LLC, was opened after she served on a regional Emmy-nominated film project and had accumulated a wealth of audience stream building expertise in membership development for an upscale chamber of commerce, along with serving as a Public Relations Director for a well-respected jazz club.

Cheryl Hughey Promotions built a solid reputation by interweaving traditional press like radio, print and television with the word-of-mouth pipeline for companies and events that featured pop acts like Kool & the Gang, Kenny G, James Ingram and Jody Watley, along with a long list of indie CD releases around the globe (including a #1 Billboard charting album in 2009 and a #1 Billboard co-producer in 2010).

In addition to publicity, Cheryl’s diverse skillset has included working in business marketing, freelance newspaper journalism (nationally published magazine writer), editing, radio promotions, concert promotions, bookings and social media.

We have read a lot of books and information while trying to promote our music worldwide. None have been as informative as Cheryl L Hughey's new book "Music Promotion for Everyone Volume 1". We thought that we had done everything that we could possibly do to get our music heard and to bring in more gigs for Brian, until we read this book. Now we see that not only is there much more that we can do, but also through this book we see all of things we have been doing wrong. We highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a career in music and also those who are just looking to increase their gigs. New artists, music students, and seasoned artist alike, could learn from this book. Looking forward to Volume 11!
Sincerely written by Brian and Elizabeth LaChance

Music Promotion for Everyone Part 1

Music schools and colleges are churning hopeful musos every year and that creates an increasingly tough economic climate for all. Let’s say you have just completed three years of study and now consider yourself a highly competent guitarist, drummer, etc. “What to do?” There are hundreds of musicians just like you but there are very few opportunities. You need an edge, some advantage to put you ahead of the mob.
Veteran music publicist Cheryl Hughey has just released a new ebooklet, "Music Promotion for Everyone, Volume 1." It is designed to fit the growing needs of music students and addresses the skills required to market oneself that most colleges ignore. This short, easy-to-read, collection of essays covers the subjects of leadership, salesmanship, marketing, communication skills and roles of industry professionals, appearance bookings and social media. Cheryl should know, this has been her life in the tough US market for years.
"The lessons are designed to give the developing artist a solid foundation in the key business skills needed to survive in the highly competitive entertainment marketplace," says the author.
