Hostess for Hunting

First to start, 4 tiara wearing bats with an extra tiara out of 5 bats for the author.

The VV Inn is back for another go. Now that the vacations are over the hunt begins.

The first book introduced all the players and now they get to share their views as a new kind of big game hunt gets ready to take place. I love that although these are primarily vampire books, here we get to meet and see more of the weres (and it looks like they may even get to be a focus in the next book).

As always I love my normal favorites but in this book a new one is getting that title from me. Paul has always been interesting but the new developments in his new life have me really hoping he gets a lot more face time in the next book. Also I am very happy he didn't eat Bunny because I like her.

Wonderful read and I love the expansion of characters over the last one. Only character I personally didn't like well... Lets just say is no longer an issue :P

While the the masters away the wolves will play, I cant wait for the next book.

Loved this second part of the V V Inn series, so many twists and turns, just when you thought you knew where the story was going something unexpected would happen. Really liked the way the story was told from the viewpoint of several main characters giving the reader that extra insight into all the members of the seethe. Can't wait for the third book but also like the tidbits from Dria's long past - maybe a prequel?

LOVED this book. If you read and enjoyed the first book in the series "Vampire Vacation" then you will definitely enjoy this book as well. It sucks you in right from the beginning. Never a dull moment. Can't wait for the next book to come out!

I read the first book chapter by chapter and loved reading it again once it was finished...the second in the series is just as good, if not better, expanding onthe main characters and introducing new ones with twists and turns as the story unfolds. Read it at one sitting, couldnt put it down as Iwanted to know what happened next. Looking forward to book number three!!

Set in the middle of nowhere Alaska, the V.V. Inn caters to the discerning vampire who desires to have all his/her fantasies come true. Owned by Dria (known as Vivian to her staff) a master vampire, and her human husband Rafe, the V.V. Inn is known for its excellent service and attention to detail. When they offer a chance for a week vacation for vampires and werewolves to hunt down – and kill – a rogue vampire, they get an eclectic mix of clientele turning up. Now the hunt is on, but will be guests be the hunters or the hunted, and is the rogue really guilty as charged? Vivian, Rafe and their staff have their work cut out for them, loyalties will be tested and everyone might not make it out alive.

Once again Ms. Ellisson has given us a fun, exciting adventure to share in. Told from the point of view of Vivian, Rafe and a number of their staff, The Hunt is jam packed with exciting hunt scenes, juicy sex scenes and a more in depth glimpse into the past lives of characters we met in the previous book, Vampire Vacation.

Vivian is an ex-enforcer, very old, very smart, very sexy woman. I’m a little scared of her and a little in awe of her. She manages her baser instincts well, but they slip a little during the hunt and give us a few spine tingling moments. Rafe, her husband, is just plain out and out yummy. He is devoted to Vivian (and she to him) and balances her out in every way. They are most definitely the perfect couple.

We see more of Jon, Vivian’s werewolf servant in this book; he is madly in love with Vivian and doesn’t really hide it well. Vivian, Rafe and Jon have an unusual relationship and the interactions between the three of them are at times fun to watch and at times, painful. Rafe for the most part, tolerates Jon, sometimes he loves him, sometimes he likes him and sometimes he hates him, but there is a definite sexual tension going on between the three of them.

The rest of the cast of characters are as varied and different as any staff of an Inn would be (well if they were vampires). It was fun getting to see what was going on their minds, and seeing how they were dealing with being in Vivian’s seethe.

The author starts the book out with a foreword that mentions she lost her nephew while writing the book and how difficult it was to finish the book. She ended up naming a character after him, and even naming the characters best friend after her nephew’s best friend. It was very touching to read.

This book is darker than the first book, it has many more gory scenes (it is a hunt after all) and fewer explicit sex scenes. Don’t be mistaken, they are there, they just don’t occur as often as they did in the first book.

I loved this book and my only problem with it was the method of telling it from different POV’s. I’m not a fan of this, although the author handled it well, it’s just not a favorite of mine. To make matters worse for me, I truly wasn’t that interested in one particular character's POV, so I tended to just skim over his telling of the story.

There was a set up for another installment in the end, no drop off cliffhanger here, just a setup. I can’t wait to read the next one, since I had a number of unanswered questions about some of the characters that I’m hoping will be answered.

All in all, this is another home run, and I have no problem recommending it to anyone who enjoys a good vampire hunt and a mystery, with some lusty moments thrown in.
