What starts as 'only' a little relic retrieval/temple raiding gets complicated quickly when another group appears, intent on getting the relic first.
An enjoyable story with a nice oriental feel to it, from the main character's society, the magic, and the different cultures shown in the book.
There's a bit of mystery surrounding the main character, in that several things mentioned in the story strongly suggest that there is more to him that meets the eye, but hopefully that will be explained and explored more in future books of the series.
