Extended description

From dropping the Christmas goose in Berlin, Germany to surviving tornadoes in Alabama, and recounting the stories of WW2 survivors, Red Haircrow also takes the reader into the oral tradition of storytelling among their Native American friends and family, and how life is as a "two spirit" individual.

A collection of writing, essays and articles on dream interpretation, intercultural observation, the power of memory, emotion and more. From Native American author and resident of Germany, Red Haircrow's "Songs of the Universal Vagabond" is a sometimes funny and always poignant narrative divided into flash memoir chapters. This is a easily readable, diverse look at a variety of subjects from the perspective of one person's journey through life told through both word and their photography.

I really enjoyed Songs of the Universal Vagabond, it is one of the best collection of memoirs I've read in a while. I loved the colorful short glimpses of a life on a journey, almost like small photographs or poems of moments that are meaningful to the author in some special way. Thank you, Red, for your openness and honesty in this collection. I respect your genuine authenticity so much!

There were some special songs that moved me deeply: Ringside Seats-The Alabama Tornadoes April 2011, The Most Beautiful Woman in the World, “Two Spirit”-Tradition, History & Future, Love-Variations on a Theme, and others that made me smile and laugh: The Goose God Cometh Forth and The People-The Power of the Pow-wow. Every chapter a new rich image. A beautiful book which I highly recommend!
