on April 12, 2012 :
If you enjoy Jane Austen's satire and wit, you will love this book. You will enjoy it even more if you find the legal profession somewhat pretentious and pompous - perfect material for Jane Austen-type attention.
Elliot has emulated Austen's style effectively, and evokes a real-world feeling of small and large legal firms, with a bit of almost 'Rumpole of the Bailey' thrown in.
And then the ending is a great update for the modern world and one I'm sure Austen would approve of.
