I'm Irish and as such am always on the lookout for new Irish authors. I'm not a major fan of this genre but as the book was cheap I decided I'd give it a go.
I was more than pleasantly surprised! There's a lot of action in this book and the pace is very fast. The story-telling is gripping and despite my general dislike for the genre, the setting is fantastic.
Criticisms? I felt that some of the sex scenes were a bit too descriptive. It's not that I'm prudish but they were too long and interfered with the pace of the story too much for my liking. They are very, very well written but much of the lengthy descriptions are unnecessary to the plot and as such I did find myself getting bored and thinking "Yeah, I get the idea, he's hungry for sex and he's getting some, whoop-de-do, on with the story and action please". Of course, readers will understand that one of the sex scenes is necessary for the plot but even still cut the length of the others.
For me the ending was abrupt but on the plus side for the author, the ending really left me wanting to read more so I'll definitely be purchasing the next book.

A gripping read! Very descriptive and absorbing with a strong storyline that was easy to follow. Couldn't put this book down, read it completely in one sitting. Will be looking forward to the release of the second book in this series. Would definitely recommend this book to young or old adults who enjoy a good book about werewolves, vampires, witches and other supernatural species!
