About Lori Henry

Lori Henry ( is a dancer and author based between Vancouver, Canada and London, UK. She is currently studying towards her Master's degree in Dance Anthropology at the University of Roehampton. Her training spans Polynesian, jazz, tap and ballet dancing, to ringette and acting for both the theatre and film.

She worked for almost 10 years as a travel writer, her work being published all over the world. You can find her byline in Air Canada's enRoute, WestJet's up! magazine, Reader's Digest, VIA destinations, Western Living, West, Fodor's guidebooks, Spa magazine, British Columbia Magazine Travelife, VIA magazine (the AAA Traveler's Companion), Gateways (Carnival Cruise Lines), FLARE, and, to name a few. She was also the Editor of Massage Matters magazine.

In her early 20s, Lori was the Founding Editor of Beauty: You Define It magazine, an alternative youth publication that dealt with questioning mainstream beauty standards and our culture's fixation on outward appearance. Her full-length book, Silent Screams (Second Edition, 2008), has toured high schools and youth groups in the Lower Mainland of BC.

Lori is also passionate about doing advocacy work for eating disorder awareness charities. She sat on the Advisory Committee of Jessie's Hope Society (formerly ANAD), was a Director of the You Are Not Alone Eating Disorder Society, and was a Founding Director of Shelley's Angels Society.
