Absent People is a collection of stories about the people of the Midwest, an ode to the hardworking folks who know the value of life as well as the randomness of trouble. The stories, although very different, all have the theme of someone or something that is absent.

"The River Man” was a finalist in the 2005 Pebble Lake Review short story contest, and follows a young woman’s descent into depression.
"After the Rain” is the story of a man who makes peace with the people around him after his wife’s untimely death.
“Scenes of a Still Life” features Jack Lampart, a young man who has taken a wrong turn somewhere in life.
“The Junction” hangs on a thread as an elderly woman makes the transition from life to death.
In “The Company we Keep,” we meet Rose, a woman who has either lost her mind or found some friends to keep her company.
