About JR Rogers

J.R. Rogers grew up primarily in Paris, but also in Antwerp and Kinshasa, an international influence he finds frequently tainting his historical novels of intrigue and espionage with plots and scenes set in various parts of the world: France, Belgium, Peru, Brazil, French Guiana, Uruguay and the former French Morocco.

Forthcoming is a novel of foreign intrigue and espionage set in 1970s Cyprus due in the spring of 2015 and entitled The Eliminator.

His novel influences were those of classic spy writers such as Eric Ambler, John Le Carre, Frederick Forsythe, Ian Flemings and Robert Ludlum, for instance and his current interests in writers of the genre are all over the board but would have to include Robert Wilson and Olen Steinhauer.

The author is also a prolific short story writer he often writes alongside his current novel project. As a short story writer he credits the influence of masters the likes of Irwin Shaw, Raymond Carver, William Trevor, J.D. Salinger and Andre Dubus. A number of his stories have been published in various literary and online publications. An anthology titled The Way Things Were – Collected Stories, was issued in June 2014.

He holds a B.A. in French Literature and studied short story writing at UC Irvine Extension.
