Short description
A collection of blog postings covering the copyright wars in Canada. While it's Canadian specific, many of the same things have happened in other countries.
This is a view of the Copyright Wars from an artists viewpoint. I don't spare the politicians, or the business people who live off us. In fact I don't spare anyone, which didn't gain me any friends. The Canadian Recording Industry Association aka Music Canada would love to see the last of me.
The problem is that no one is speaking up for the artists. All too often we don't ourselves, and we aren't politically involved. Out of the four large Canadian political parties, only one Member of Parliament is an artist. How can we get legislation that is in our interest, if we have no representation?
Being a writer, I wrote about it. My writing upset quite a few people, including several of the lawyers involved. The President of Warner Music Canada, Steve Kane, calls me 'The Mad Hater' (my online nickname for years was 'The Mad Hatter' and my main website was madhatter.ca ).
