I don't consider myself a fan of vampire fiction, but having heard of J.D. Robinson through some coincidental circumstances, I decided to give her debut novelette a try. I'm glad I did.
This is a great bit of fiction at a great price point. Robinson clearly has an understanding of the unique novelette form, jumping straight into her story and characters from page one. The plot runs at a satisfying pace throughout, following several interwoven storylines and developing several engaging characters. The ending of the book comes all too quickly and leaves the reader wanting more. Just like a good first part in a trilogy should. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of urban fantasy or to anyone looking for a satisfying piece of fiction at a bargain price.
Keep your eyes on J.D. Robinson in the future. I expect to see more great fiction with her name on it.
