Strange Bedfellows (Q. Kelly)
This is a beautiful, heartwarming story about two women with very different backgrounds that meet in the most unusual of circumstances. Both women have lived through tragedy and heart break and have come together to help each other better their lives, and yes, to fall in love.
Q. Kelly takes the reader from the first “hello” to the final “I love you” and builds an intriguing story all the way through. You learn about Elena’s heart-breaking loss of her son and her struggles with her friends. You also learn of Frances’ struggle to accept herself and to move away from the anti-gay organization G.I.C. (Gay is a Choice) which she led and also about her desire to find her daughter which has been missing for many years.
Thinking about what kind of book “Strange Bedfellows” is; Amazon and other places call it a “lesbian romance” ~ this is not very helpful ~ So, I’ve thought of a new genre …..
“Slice of Life”
“Strange Bedfellows” is a sampling of two very wonderful people’s lives. It details their dreams, desires and needs. The adventure is their interaction and the ultimate goal is their dreams to come true.
Q. Kelly is an amazing author and I can’t wait to read her future works.

I just want to point out that I do not know the author and if I hadn't run across the book while browsing lesbian ficiton on Amazon I would not even have known this book existed. I took a chance on an author who was unknown to me because the plot sounded interesting.
The plot not only sounded interesting, it actually WAS interesting. The characters were interesting. The main characters were fleshed out very well and the reader got a good sense of what motivated each one. At first the reader thinks it is impossible for these two women to fall in love, but as more is revealed about each one, you find that they are actually sort of perfect for each other. We discover this at the same time the characters do and it makes for a lovely reading experience.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for lesbian fiction where the romance is well written, genuine, between two well-written characters, and balanced by a great plot.
I see that the author now has two more books on here (she did not when I purchased this book last month), I will be reading those as well. One of (if not the best) writers in lesbian that I've discovered this year.
