Bereits bei der Anreise nach München, zu der Eröffnung ihrer Ausstellung, hat Carlotta ein ungutes Gefühl. Sie ahnt aber noch nicht, zu was Eifersucht, Hass, Neid und die menschliche Psyche imstande sind, bis sie ins Zentrum einer mörderischen Inszenierung gerät.
Carlotta möchte am liebsten sofort nach in die Toskana zurückkehren, doch Hauptkommissar Schmidtbauer hat etwas dagegen, solange jedenfalls, wie der mysteriöse Todesfall in der Galerie nicht aufgeklärt ist.
